Nerding up life, theology, technology, and more

Now with flavour

There’s been a bit of a change around here.

I’ve redesigned the order of the site a little, and we’ve got a new name.

freney.org is the new digs, and there’s now a friendly welcome page at the root address (or when you click ‘home’ in the nav bar up the top). It’s pretty nifty, and through the wonder of Google Apps my family can have (very) personalised email addresses. If you know us, guess, and you’ll get it right.

The old links to freney.wordpress.org will still work, though they’ll redirect into the new name. Update your bookmarks/rss feeds if you like, but both will continue to work indefinitely.

Hopefully things are still easy to find. If all you’re interested in is the latest post and don’t want to have to go through an extra click to get there, simply change your bookmark to http://freney.org/blog/ and everything will be just chipper. The bar to the right of the screen still contains the latest posts titles.

Enough. Any questions (how did I do this, why do I want a domain named after me, what’s it like to be so devilishly handsome, etc.), ask in the comments.

Later.

More vocab

I’ve passed some of these around already, but I’ve submitted my global NT Greek and OT Hebrew vocab files to Provoc (a great mac program that I’ve written about before in the context of the Moore College set texts). They cover all of the words in the NT & OT respectively, and are sorted by frequency. They’re grammatically tagged (by masc/fem noun, verb, adjective, etc.), and unicode so you can choose your font.

You can fetch them from the vocab section of the provoc website, or the direct links are listed out on my downloads page – I won’t replicate them here.

Enjoy.

Unsung comic-book heroes

I just came across an epic battle of wills, wits, and penmanship.

The Superest is a battle between artists where one player draws a character with a superpower, who is then responded to by another character with a power that cancels out the first.

It’s fun, and whilst some of the links are a little tenuous, in the main it is very clever.

Make sure you start at the bottom, as the page is set up with the most recent post at the top.

More Accordance

accordanceThere’s a new version of Accordance out, but it won’t be found by the AccUpdater widget (at least this was true for me. This may have changed). Visit accordancebible.com to download the latest version.

According to Accordance themselves (ha!), this version ‘does not have many new features‘ other than minor bug-fixes, but is now Leopard-ready. Which means that if, like me, you’re running Tiger, then you get a taste of the detached-tabbed look of 10.5:

Hidden image

I came across this the other day. It’s a puzzle. For all you photo nerds out there, try and find the picture hidden in the following image:
